Co-Mission

SCRIPTURE:

““Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?”

Luke 14:34

OBSERVATION:

The theme of this season that God has given Pastor John is “Chosen to Co-Mission”, and the message is that each of us has been chosen by God to daily live for Him. You have been chosen to tell your friends about Jesus, you have been chosen to pray for those He places before you, and you have been chosen to share His love with everyone. Though some are called to a mission field overseas all are called to be on mission with God right where they are at. At its source, this theme battles the consumer, entertain me, mindset and reminds us that God desires to work in and through us each day, so we must get off of the sidelines and on to the battlefield. This theme was reinforced as I read Luke 14. Jesus is teaching His listeners what it means to be His disciple. He declares that it’s daily walking in humility, it’s living in service to those that need it, and it’s counting the cost of putting God first through complete surrender and commitment to Him. It’s giving up the things of this world to gain the things of His Kingdom, including His purpose and mission. Jesus then goes on to talk about salt and, rather than getting too deep in the illustration, the theme of “salt” parallels co-mission. Salt has a purpose and in that purpose it is extremely useful and valuable. So, too, you have a purpose and when you walk in the purposes of God and are on daily mission with Him you are useful and valuable to His Kingdom.

APPLICATION:

Today, I’m so grateful for this charge to be the salt of the Earth and to be on mission with Jesus. I can’t imagine anything that could be more motivating, more exciting, and more satisfying than being on a daily mission with Him to spread His love, to see Him bring deliverance and salvation, and to help others find hope. Today I commit to not losing my “saltiness” and to not allowing myself to drift from complete surrender, complete commitment, and complete fervor in serving Him and His people. I will do this by:

1.Praying and asking for God to use me today.

2.Look for, and being intentional, with opportunities He gives.

3.Obey as He leads.

PRAYER:

Jesus, thank You for giving me purpose and for choosing me to be on mission with You. I give you this day, and I ask that You would use me, that You would guide me, and that my “saltiness” might be useful to You today. In Your name, Amen.
