Cast Your Anxieties On Him

by Rien Vidad on December 16, 2025

SCRIPTURE:

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

1 Peter 5:6-7

OBSERVATION:

While the anxieties and worries of life may not seem like they go with humility, they truly do. All too often when we are trying to figure things out, worrying about what’s to come and wanting to take care of everything ourselves, then that leaves little room for The Lord. In our pride, we are telling God we don’t need Him because we will do it. Humility says otherwise. It says we ABSOLUTELY need The Lord.

APPLICATION:

The visual of casting my anxiety on The Lord brings back certain memories. Growing up, my Dad was what we would call a “Throw Net” fisherman. In other parts of the world we would call it “Cast Net” fishing, where a large net is thrown ahead of a swimming school of fish.

I have fond memories of watching my Dad patiently walk the shoreline and reef, then throwing or casting his net ahead of him and pulling in a large bounty of fish. If anyone ever wanted to learn he would take them with him. Always giving them the majority of the fish that was caught. It was the one thing he loved to do every weekend. It was where he found his peace.

It was as if with each throw, he was letting go of the struggles, challenges and worries that built up throughout the week. In return would be the blessings that he would catch. That’s a lot like our relationship with Christ. In humility, the more and more I give Him my anxieties and worries, the more and more he returns His blessings and peace.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30

PRAYER:

Father Almighty. Forgive me Lord for times when I have pridefully tried to do everything myself. Thank You Lord that You want to take the burdens of this life from me. May I take Your yoke upon me, this I pray, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
