SCRIPTURE:
“However, if you do not obey the Lord your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come on you and overtake you.”
Deuteronomy 28:15
OBSERVATION:
God doesn’t speak vaguely here—He speaks clearly.
This chapter lays out blessings and curses side by side, with no confusion about the source of either. Obedience leads to life with the Lord, His protection, and His provision. Disobedience leads to disorder, loss, and struggle.
The Lord spells it out plainly for His people. Not because God is harsh—but because He is honest. He loves them enough to warn them. Yet this chapter is often skipped, rushed past, or avoided altogether. It’s tucked away in Deuteronomy. Sometimes we’re busy noticing God’s promises that we skip the opposite.
APPLICATION:
This passage made me slow down and pay attention.
Am I carefully following the Lord—or casually listening?
Am I obeying when it’s convenient, or when it costs me something?
God’s Word isn’t meant to intimidate us—it’s meant to guide us. When life feels off-track, this chapter invites honest reflection. I like to do this daily; I reflect on my day and ask the Lord to correct me in anything I need correction in.
PRAYER:
Lord, thank You for loving me enough to be clear.
Help me not skip over the hard truths in Your Word, but to receive them with humility and trust.
Teach me to walk in obedience—not out of fear of curses, but out of love for You and a desire to live the life You designed. Amen.
