A New Season, a New Covenant

by John Tilton on July 12, 2021

Scripture

For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.” (Hebrews 9:15)

Observation

It is through Christ that the prior practice of sacrificing of goats and bulls was put away when Christ gave His life and shed His blood once and for all for the forgiveness of sin and the promise of eternal life.  Thus, it became a new covenant or agreement and therefore a new season with new life that Christ’s sacrifice would be the interceding price paid for freedom for all who believe in His name and sacrifice.

Application

As the world exits COVID and the pandemic, it is with hope and a new way of life that we seek a new season of promise.  When we are able to base our hope and promise in this new season on Christ, our new life can be an inheritance of a new heart and new outlook in how we go about our day-to-day lives, founded in what we lay down in death of the past by Christ.  It is a perspective of possibilities rather than problems, hope rather than hassles, and love in our hearts rather than loathing the challenges of life.  I love the lyrics of one of our songs we sing, “it’s a new season, it’s a new day.”  What you make of the new season and new day is up to you.

Prayer

Dear Jesus, THANK YOU for your sacrifice, that I may stand on a perspective of hope and promise through a new day, new season, new heart, new attitude, and new life .... all because of what you did on the cross.
