End Days' Harvest

Today's Reading:
Lamentations 1,2; Obadiah; Revelation 14

“And I looked and behold a white cloud, and sitting on the cloud was one like a son of man, having a golden crown on his head and a sharp sickle in his hand. And another angel came out of the temple crying out with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, “put in the sickle and reap because the hour to reap has come because the harvest of the earth is ripe.” (Revelation 14:14-15)

The Book of Revelation speaks of the road signs alerting us to last-day events. We see many of the symptoms even now:

  • Apostasy: Where church leaders fall away from the basic tenets of the faith.
  • Famines and pestilence: thousands suffering from starvation and disease.

But in the midst of these last days of famines, disease, wars, and struggles, the opportunity is great for harvesting! Revelation 6 tells of the various horses or mile markers. And now another mile marker: it is a season of the harvest! The harvest is ripe!

We, as a church, must reach out and rescue as many as we can! Like the lifeboats in the film, “Titanic,” several boats refused to look for the drowning because they had enough in their lifeboat — and they were more concerned about themselves, regardless of the plight of others.

We are a church in the last days. I am looking to seek and save the drowning. You never measure the size of a church by how many are inside. You always measure a church by how many are yet outside!

Some are looking for revival. Me too, but if we’re not careful, we’ll wait for revival among the saved while thousands perish outside who are yet unsaved. We can’t wait for the Titanic to resurface; it may never. But in the meantime, the harvest is great! There is no better opportunity before us than now!

I must use every gift and every talent to reach the lost and to encourage, compel the saved to reach out … to use their lifeboats to reach one more!
