Our History

1995

Wayne Cordeiro and his family moved from Hilo to start an Oahu church.

On June 25, 1995, the first orientation service at Aliamanu Intermediate School was held.

1998

New Hope was heralded nationally as one of the fastest-growing churches in the United States. Weekend services were moved to Farrington High School, the largest high school auditorium on the island.

Cordeiro also spearheaded New Hope International, the church planting and church growth arm of New Hope.

The School of Church Planters was re-established as Pacific Rim Bible Institute, a formal Bible Institute of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. Later in 2015, the school emerges as Pacific Rim Christian University.

2009

Cordeiro was appointed chancellor of Eugene Bible College, his alma mater. The school name was changed from Eugene Bible College to New Hope Christian College in June, 2010.

2012

Collapse of Farrington auditorium

Shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2012, the roof of Farrington High School’s auditorium collapsed as thunderstorms lashed Oahu with heavy rain, flooding and hail. The New Hope weekend services are located to the Ministry Center at 290 Sand Island Access Road.

Easter 2015

New Hope embarked on a $9.2 million Building Campaign.

July 1, 2015

Jon and Cyndi Burgess are hired as the New Hope Sand Island Campus pastors.
