Seeing Christ In A Different Light

Seeing Christ In A Different Light

by Jon Burgess on December 04, 2018

…and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places,

Ephesians 3:9-10

This word for “manifold” is the word picture of a diamond held up to the light and as it turns the different colors refracting off of the diamond light up the room around it.  I love these verses.  God is saying He is using the beauty and diversity of the Body of Christ to reveal Himself to the world and teach the angels a thing or two about who He is.  In other words, they will see God in a new light through how He works through His creation.

Have you ever thought about the colors of Christ shining through your unique design as not only revealing Christ to the world, but to the heavenly realms?  Every time you obey God and walk in the divine design for which He has called you the wisdom of God is revealed.  Oh, so that’s why you live here, were born at this time, went to school at that place, have a passion for this field, are married to that person.  It’s the wisdom of God showing Himself to the world around you through your gifts, talents, and calling.

Seeing Christ in a different light is evident through individual Christians, individual churches, and even the unique expression of The Church in different cultures and countries around the world. I have traveled more this year for ministry than any previous year and to that end have come to know the manifold wisdom of Christ in a deeper way.  In other words, I have come to know my Savior by seeing my Savior shine through the different cultures of Christianity I have encountered in each country.

In Japan, I have to come to know Jesus and His heart for hospitality and excellence.

In England, I have to come to know Jesus and His heart for discipline and discipleship.

In Israel, I have to know Jesus and His heart for devotion and perseverance through the worst trials.

Everywhere I go, whether here or abroad I see Jesus in a different light when I willing to learn from those around me.  Be the uniquely gifted and person you have been called to be and Jesus will shine through and teach those around and the angels above you who God really is!

I love learning to know You more.  No one person, one church or one country has a corner on the market of who Christ is.  As we learn from each other we learn of You.  Let me never get to that place in life where I’m not sitting at the feet of those around me to learn from them and learn from You.  What an absolute joy to see You in a different light and to show You to all who are seeking!
