We Win!

by Wayne Cordeiro on December 31, 2020

Today's Reading:
Revelation 19,20,21,22

Scripture

“But the beast was captured and with it the false prophet who had performed signs on its behalf. With these signs he deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshipped its image. The two were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur..." (Rev. 19:20-21)

Observation

Whether or not you understand all the imagery, we can say this for sure: “In the end, we win!” On that day, Jesus will rise victorious, and regardless of what men thought, espoused, or believed, in the end, only what God said remains. Period. Shallow theologians, eloquent politicians, or demanding fear mongers will all be proven to be false prophets. Only God’s Word will endure. When John the Revelator describes Jesus in 19:13, he says: “He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is the Word of God.” Although a bit cryptic, we understand this one thing - His name: His name is the Word of God! No missing that! Jesus Himself is defined by the Word of God, and therefore, so should you and I!

Application

So, why wait till the end reveals it all? We read the end of the story … and we win. So, I choose NOW to be on the winning team. Sorry - no one can join “after” the revelation. You can’t sign up “after” the victory. Those who are on His team will have joined up earlier, and there will be no exceptions after the door closes. Make your 2021 resolution now to play a big part on His team and live primarily for His purposes and not our own. Hold nothing back! And when that day comes, you will have no regrets. Only “Hallelujahs!”

Prayer

Father, thank You for this reminder. I don’t want to live with pretense or be pensive in my relationship with You. No holding back in 2021.

  • You, Lord Jesus, are my passion. The Gospel is my purpose.
  • Generosity is my privilege
  • The Bible is my proof.

Don't Give Up So Easily

How often when these things happen to me, my independence (or maybe my pride) kicks in and I think, “That’s fine. I don’t need any help. I’ll just do it on my own.”

Pesky False Prophets

Pesky flies … how do they get in - in the first place? Someone left the door ajar? The window open? We find them snacking on a fruit salad just when we’re ready to poke the fork into the very cantaloupe square they had been camping on.
