1 Corinthians 16:13-14 (NIV)
13 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.
14 Do everything in love.

Paul gives a set of instructions to the readers of this book that holds true especially for us today. The very moment we step outside of our devotions and the spiritual time with the Lord, we come face to face with a society corrupted by this world. Not all things are bad but as Christians we are always in danger, therefore, we must be on the watch, diligent in carrying God’s purpose for our lives. In all of Paul’s letters he affirms our faith, reminding us that temptation will try to rock us, but it’s by faith alone we will keep sure footed, firmly on the ground. He instructs us to be people of courage and be strong as we grow and mature. And then in everything we do, show the love of Jesus.

These scriptures shows me a great way to affirm fellow Christians. No body does this better then Paul, as he even calls people by name, uses living examples of people who are serving in ministry in different areas of the country. Exhorting and affirming ones call is necessary to building up peoples confidence and courage. Do it as much as it is necessary to keep people close to each other.

Father I pray for the people in this church. Those that have dedicated their lives to serve you. May they be on their guard at all times and stand firm in their faith as we mature in You. I pray Lord, they be strong and courageous as we serve you in love. Amen.
