Healthy Relationship

Daniel 3:16-18 (NIV)
16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter.
17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king.
18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up."

The confidence in God that these three Jews showed was incredible, especially during those difficult times and the situation they were in. The key in these scriptures shows me their relationship with with God was absolute. The metaphor is like being plugged into a stronger source other then ones self. There are three basic habits to follow when looking at what these three men of God did to be plugged in and maintain the endurance to worship God.
1. They developed a habit of being refreshed physically. It was essential that they had sufficient rest, exercise and a balance diet to maintain awareness and endurance. Earlier in scripture (1:15-16), the four would eat only vegetables rather then the meat that was used for sacrifice.
2. Develop a habit of being recharged emotionally. Taking solitude time alone and recreation is important to the soul. Our emotions are like a battery. If you plug one light bulb into a battery, it will last a fairly long time. If you plug five lights in that same battery, it will last less. But try plugging in 100 lights into that one batter. It will drain real quick. Many of us have so many things going on at once, it can be draining. Solitude and recreation will help recreate energy in our life.
3. Develop a habit that will renew me spiritually. A daily quiet time with God (daily devotions); small group to be with brothers/sisters who care and pray together, and worship (singing hymns, psalms and spiritual songs. All of these habits helps me being plugged into a stronger source (Jesus) to keep my light bright.
Lord help me to not only develop these habits but to keep them plugged into You. Keep me refreshed, recharged and renewed, doing the things that keeps me close to You - In Jesus Name I Pray. Amen.
