2 Tim 3:14But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Through Faith in Jesus is paramount in this passage. Religious duty, works and actions can be empty without the revelation of Jesus, having a faith in Him. Paul’s call to Timothy to “continue” in his faith, in the Scriptures, in what he’s been taught - is based on his faith in Jesus. Relationship with Jesus first in our lives, has to precede our discipleship of others lives.

  • I expect Christians to live for Him, with all their heart, soul, life! Not perfectly, but with a repentant heart. A heart inclined to deeply desire to obey. Recognizing the struggle with personal, dark sin - but acknowledging their need for Jesus. I want people to live honestly, with transparency before God and trusted spiritual leaders.

  • I cannot expect “Christians” to live knowing about the Scriptures or trying to live for God - if they have a lacking, weak faith in Jesus.

  • I cannot expect to teach, rebuke, correct, and train by the Word of God - if people don’t have a relationship of faith in Jesus or are “SOG - servants of God.” But I need to realize “SOG - servants of God” in v17 is not talking about what people do, to serve in ministry.

  • I just can’t expect Christians to be like “the Timothy” Paul is addressing in the verse above.

YET - I feel a strong pull to the “Timothy’s and SOG-Servants of God” in Verses 14-17. And I do want to be gracious, kind, loving and accepting of ALL people, Christian, non Christian, weak or strong. I want to be the Love of Jesus to all. YET...give of much time to the “Timothy’s and SOG-Servants of God!”

THANK YOU KING!!! for this word today! me to Love all and give myself to the Timothy's and SOG that You bring to or show me. God I love You and THANK YOU for this great word! I LOVE YOU!
