The Holy Spirit

Marsha Kochi

John 16:7“But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.

Jesus is giving His final sermon before He parts, and sends the Holy Spirit. The Disciples depended on Jesus in the 3 years that He was with them. Though difficult, and the Disciples, really didn't understand, it was necessary. Jesus was going to have to die to fulfill the debt of death.

I can remember many times when I felt the devastation that these 12 men were feeling. Mentors in my life have come and it seems like in no time have left to fulfill their calling. Though lost and a bit fearful, I can see why it had to be that way. My dependence on someone else to take the lead, to do what is uncomfortable for me presents itself favorably. I shy away from doing what I should be as a leader, only to face disappointment in myself for not stepping up to what God has groomed me for. The Holy Spirit is my Friend and He is with me wherever I go. He is my guide, He will give me the ability to do My Fathers Will. I don't have to fear being alone, because I'm really not.

Thank You Jesus for the Holy Spirit, a Friend that brings us conviction, when we are doing what is wrong or when our thinking is off, and He leads us in the direction that You want us to take. Help me Lord, to heed to the voice and the prompting of the Holy Spirit.
