Ready To Give In - Give All?

Rod Shimabukuro

But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God. And now, behold, I know that none of you among whom I have gone about proclaiming the kingdom will see my face again. Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all of you, for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God. (Acts 20:24-27)
En route to Jerusalem from Miletus, Paul bids the elders of Ephesus farewell. He shares that he will never see them again. But more than a parting or farewell speech, Paul firmly reminds them of his spiritual investment in their lives, of their calling and the responsibility they have to fulfill God's purposes. Paul has been their overseer and instructor and he is passing the baton of spiritual leadership.

There are some characteristics and responsibilities of leadership I am challenged to live by, through Paul's exhortation and guidance to these spiritual elders of the church.
I am definitely wanting to live differently by:
  1. Not counting my life as "valuable" to myself, but live with total commitment to fulfill His purposes.
  2. Know the "ministry I received from the Lord." This sets the course for passionate covenant commitment to live for Jesus.
  3. Not compromising the whole counsel of God. Being a man of truth, integrity upholding the values, teachings of Jesus, no matter the cost - even to the point of death - for my life is NOT precious to me. (Help Jesus!)
  4. In verse 28-35: Pay close attention, be alert for our hearts and the flock, careful for false teachers. Know the Word of God, care for and build up the body of Christ, Work hard, don't' be dependent on "man's provision" and help the weak - Be a Giver. This all extends to deeper, more meaningful
OH GOD!!!! I've got a ways to go - in heart commitment. I feel like my commitment is so shallow as my heart is urged to be changed!! Change me Lord. Destroy me, to rebuild me - to be a man of God like Paul was. I know it will cost. Oh my.... do I really know? Am I really willing? Have mercy on me O Lord!
