Just Like Jesus

Micah Simpson

"Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, "Tabitha, get up." She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up." (Acts 9:40)
I love to see the disciples minister like Jesus ministered. I love to see when the disciples would speak something that Jesus had spoken. I love to see when the disciples healed people and performed miracles like Jesus did. And much of what we see happen in the book of Acts is a direct result of what Jesus had taught and exampled to His disciples. This story is a great example of what it looks like to imitate Jesus!

It was in Mark 5:41 where Jesus goes in and heals a young girl, and when he did this, he brought Peter, James and John. So when Peter hears that Tabitha had died, Peter knew exactly what to do! Because he was emulating what he saw Jesus do.
Shouldn't this be the way that it is? Shouldn't we emulate our Savior? Shouldn't we be speaking His words and imitating His ministry? For many of us, we emulate things that have nothing to do with Jesus. We imitate things that have nothing to do with what he taught or how He lived.

There are many Christians who attend church, and even attend a small group, but they lack confidence and zeal. It's because they have not spent enough time with Jesus to know His words, His ministry, His prayer life, and His teaching.

When you spend time with someone, it is a guarantee that they are going to rub off on you! Wouldn't you agree that it should be Jesus that is rubbing off on us! Can you imagine how powerful it would be if Christians were imitating and following after their savior! Imagine if we pursued a life and ministry that looked just like Jesus!
One of the things that I always keep at the top of my prayer list is that I would become more like Jesus and less like the world! There is nothing better than having my eyes fixed on Jesus and my ministry resembling His.

Lord, please forgive me for the times where I end up copying someone's ministry, or imitating someone's book, instead of relying fully on Jesus Christ who is my everything! I never want to take my eyes off of Him who is the source! The best ministry model that I could ever follow is that of Jesus Christ!
