2 Kings 14:8-10 (NIV)
8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, with the challenge: "Come, meet me face to face."
9 But Jehoash king of Israel replied to Amaziah king of Judah: "A thistle in Lebanon sent a message to a cedar in Lebanon, 'Give your daughter to my son in marriage.' Then a wild beast in Lebanon came along and trampled the thistle underfoot.
10 You have indeed defeated Edom and now you are arrogant. Glory in your victory, but stay at home! Why ask for trouble and cause your own downfall and that of Judah also?"
Amaziah was riding on his high horse of arrogance after his victory over Edom. Because of his arrogance and pride, he felt the momentum to overthrow Jehoash king of Israel and so he declared war. The king of Israel (Jehoash) response to Amaziah (king of Judah) in the form of a parable (the thistle and wild beast) as to say, I will crush you, you little trouble maker. No matter how many victories Amaziah succeeded in, without God, he had nothing.

God wants you to succeed. He wants to take you deeper and build character, not just success for the sake of success.
The ultimate test of your heart is:
How do you handle praise? Success? Material success? Do you spend it all on yourself? How do you handle the good life?
When everything is going great we tend to forget about God.
Psalm 115:1, “Not to us, O LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory.”
God is looking for people to use. He is looking for people to bless. He's doing a heart search and when He finds somebody with the right heart, available heart, He blesses the socks off of them. God is looking for those that turn to Him with a humble, willing and serving heart.
Lord I pray, "God, give me a repentant heart that makes me sensitive, as You bless me with success, may I be grateful and humble and a testimony to Your power. Amen.
