Looking Like Jesus

Richard Waialeale

Acts 6:14-15 (NIV)
14 For we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs Moses handed down to us."
15 All who were sitting in the Sanhedrin looked intently at Stephen, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.

Jesus said the day will come when there will be false teachers, who will try to twist what we as Christians say about him. And it was already starting with Stephen. Yet the irony of this was that the one (Stephen) who they claim was trying to change the customs of Moses, looked like Moses. When I preach the Gospel to those around me, my goal is to not look like Richard but to look like the one that I’m sharing the Good News about - Jesus. If I try to look like myself as I preach the Good News of Jesus, then I’m no better then those teachers of the law.

Lord my hope is that wherever and whatever I do and no matter what people say about me - that I do it looking like Jesus. If I want to walk, talk and breath like Jesus, then I’ve got to learn, read and study about the person I’m trying to be like.

Father my prayer today is to fix my eyes on the One who created me and made me for a purpose - a mission. To love You Lord and to love those around me. I pray that I will love as Jesus loved. Amen.
