Doing Good Gives PeaceJohn Tilton
1 Timothy 5:24-25 The sins of some are obvious, reaching the place of judgment ahead of them; the sins of others trail behind them. In the same way, good deeds are obvious, and even those that are not obvious cannot remain hidden forever.
These scriptures are a great reminder that we are indeed accountable for our sins whether obvious or not. It's also very refreshing and affirming to be reminded that good deeds do touch other as a blessing and bring peace and fulfillment to the doer.
Have you ever seen sin committed and it not be recognized therefore feeling that the sinner got away with his/her sin? Or have you every committed a sin and felt remorse but hoped that you got away with it being revealed? The scriptures are an awakening that God sees all and that whether obvious or unseen, I will be held accountable for my sins and my life. I also realize that I sometimes shake my head at others' sins not recalling that I am a sinner with my own sins ... oops, hypocritical? However, I am so encouraged to know and realize that when I do good deeds, I do feel a joy and peace. It's great to know and be reminded that God sees and that I can influence others through my deeds.
Thank you Lord for putting my thoughts and heart into the proper perspective. Please guide me to be a doer of good deeds.
