When Jesus Is All You Need

Richard Waialeale

1 Samuel 23:14 (NLT)

14 David now stayed in the strongholds of the wilderness and in the hill country of Ziph. Saul hunted him day after day, but God didn’t let Saul find him.

Psalms 54:3 (NLT)

3 For strangers are attacking me; violent people are trying to kill me. They care nothing for God.

When everything is crashing in on life and you’re crying out to Jesus, I’m calling out to Him and it doesn’t seem like He hears me, remember this.

You don’t know that when Jesus is all you need, when Jesus is all you really got!

I read today’s Scriptures and all of a sudden I realize how close Jesus really is to me.

Story about Jackie Robinson, who was the first black person to play major league baseball. Breaking baseball’s color barrier, he faced jeering crowds in every stadium. Players would stomp on his feet and kick him.

While playing one day in his home stadium in Brooklyn, he made an error. The fans began to ridicule him. He stood at second base, humiliated, while the fans jeered. Then, shortstop Pee Wee Reese came over, stood next to him. He put his arm around Jackie Robinson and faced the crowd.

The fans grew quiet. Robinson later said that arm around his shoulder saved his career.

We are sometimes like Jackie Robinson, full of shame. Sometimes, like Jackie, our shame is from nothing we've done. Sometimes our shame is from our own sin and guilt. And like Pee Wee Reese, Jesus comes and slips his arm around us, and bears our shame for us.

I need to know that Jesus will do that for me. When I can read His Word’s and allow Him to enter my heart, then all of a sudden, I can feel His presence is there with me. He has always been there with me, it was that I needed to open myself to Him. He might not be there the way I want Him to be, But Jesus is close to me.

Lord I trust in You. I’ll place Your Words in my heart and allow Your peace and comfort work it’s way into me. Amen.
