I Believe

Rod Shimabukuro

Now it was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James and the other women with them who told these things to the apostles, but these words seemed to them an idle tale, and they did not believe them. Luke 24:10-11
It’s interesting that God allowed a group of women to witness the empty tomb of Jesus and encounter 2 of His angels. Women were not always given the respect or credibility of spiritual leadership, but were considered subservient to men. What did God have in mind using these women? Perhaps their sensitivity, obedience and heart of worship was to be an example to the men, who would doubt the women’s testimony.
One application for me is to consider the word of the Lord through my sisters in Christ. Their encounters with Jesus may seem so miraculously unbelievable - that I should ponder and take note of what the Lord may be saying through them. I’ve not had a problem with spiritual women in love with Jesus, speaking into the life of others, including myself.

...and What?? The apostles, closest comrades, leaders, disciples of Jesus - DID NOT BELIEVE their sisters in Christ? That Jesus was raised from the dead!! Apart from His Spirit’s revealing Jesus to me - I too, would think that His resurrection was an idle tale. I’m rejoicing that He chose to reveal Himself to me! I BELIEVE IN YOU LORD!
Dear Jesus, I don’t ever want to doubt You --- or others who may bring a “word of the Lord” to me. May I never despise prophecy but I ask for discernment to test all things according to Your Spirit and Word! Thank You for choosing me to believe!
