Beckie-My role model

Rod Shimabukuro

Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. James 1:21-22
Of all people, James would be one to know the Word made flesh - the Living Word - Jesus. Being raised in a Jewish home, James was well acquainted with the importance of the Word of God being taught, obeyed and feared. He was definitely a doer, go getter type, exhorting Christians to live our their faith. James seems to be calling out Christians - raised in the church - to put their faith into action.

But there is a key to being doers of the Word. The Word must be implanted.
I’ve always appreciated the heritage of my wife’s faith, upbringing - the strong convictions, lifestyle of my in laws. This morning, I’m grateful - being reminded of our conversation yesterday of heritage, values of her parents raising her to implant the Word in her heart. Beckie’s a doer of the Word, with such integrity, faith, conviction to put away filthiness, combat worldliness in our home. But it’s the implanted Word of God and the implanted Living Word of of Jesus presence that has captured her heart.

For me to live different - is to live gratefully for my wife - her heritage - upbringing. Also to be more mindful of treating her with the utmost respect and kindness. May the implanted Word in my heart yield the fruit of righteousness in home - and help me to put away my filthy attitudes and wicked thoughts and motives.
Dear Jesus - Thank you for Beckie and please bless Dad and Mom Duewel! Thank you for the heritage left to our kids and imparted into my life. What an inheritance! Thank you - thank you!
