Shekinah Glory

Richard Waialeale

"On the day the tabernacle, the Tent of the Testimony, was set up, the cloud covered it. From evening till morning the cloud above the tabernacle looked like fire. That is how it continued to be; the cloud covered it, and at night it looked like fire. Whenever the cloud lifted from above the Tent, the Israelites set out; wherever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped." (Numbers 9:15-17)
The word "Shekinah" means he caused to dwell, meaning God's manifestation on the earth. This word, Shekinah, doesn't appear in the Bible, but the understanding of His presence clearly does. This was not the first time God's presence was obvious amongst the Israelites and it wouldn't be the last, yet this was another incredible example of God showing Himself to the people. Once Moses asked to see God face to face, but God told Moses the best that he would see God's Glory is from the back.

In the New Testament, Jesus says, "Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father" (John 14:9). Jesus is the presence of God on earth. Jesus is the dwelling place of God's Glory.
Jesus is the presence of God on this earth. His existence lives out in people and how we must best imitate Jesus. The only God people will see is the Jesus that lives in me. Often enough, the only Bible people will read is the Bible that lives out through me. I may not be the best example of Jesus, but often times, that will be the only Jesus that people will see. The best Jesus people will experience is when I can show them Jesus either through my faith and actions, or point them in the direction of Jesus.
Father through all that I see and experience, I pray that I follow You and be the best Jesus people You place in front of me will see. Amen.
