The Battle Belongs To The Lord

Richard Waialeale

1 Samuel 17:47 (NIV) 47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give all of you into our hands."
Someone once said, “Whenever you’re walking through the fire (the problems and circumstances of life, dominated by fear), don’t look at what you’re walk through, look at who you’re walking with. The problem with Israel and what caused their fear was they were looking at their present circumstances. David looked at who he was walking with. In verse 45, ”David said to the Philistine, You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.“ David knew who he was walking with him.
We receive God’s power by consuming God’s promises. In the Bible, there are many references that refer to itself as the sustenance or nourishment. Whenever you feel like you’re being dominated by fear, worries – it’s not that you lack faith. It’s because you’re not feeding your faith with God’s promises. You can’t walk in courage if your courage is malnourished. I hear people praying, God give me courage; I don’t want to worry about this anymore. God take this fear away from me. God says, “Why don’t you feed your faith until your faith is bigger then your fear and then you can run your fear right out of your heart. And then you can focus on Me.” God says, “I’m not removing your fear. If I removed your fear, then you wouldn’t depend on Me.” Feed the faith I put inside of you, it’s like a seed, and if you feed it, it’ll grow.
Father I pray, You are all I need. Your promises live forever. I pray Lord to get my eyes on You until all I can see and remember are your promises and the one that I’m walking with. Thank you Lord for who You are in me. Amen.
