Victory beongs to GodRichard Waialeale
Joshua 6:2 (NIV) 2 Then the Lord said to Joshua, "See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men.
General Douglas Macarthur said this of Joshua – “Joshua was the greatest leader of all time.” It was Joshua’s faith in God led him to become one of the greatest leader of all time. He believed in what God was going to do even when he didn’t see it. Joshua obeyed God even when he didn’t understand it. There’s this powerful city named Jericho. God’s going to defeat the enemy. God’s going to lead the people, using Joshua. How did he do it? God says “Here’s my plan: I want you circle around this city for seven days, thanking me in advance for the fact that you’re going to have victory. Hebrews 11:30 says “By faith the walls of Jericho fell, after the people had marched around them for seven days.” When they did that, when they marched around the seventh time on the seventh day, the walls just fell. God worked.
How do I experience God’s victories? By increasing my faith in Him. How do I do that? Wernher von Braun who was the father of the American space program said, “No great achievement has ever been achieved in history without faith.” *I have to believe it’s possible long before it ever happens. *I must obey even when I don’t understand it. *Persisting even when I don’t feel like it. The truth is I don’t always feel like doing the right thing. But God can give you the kind of faith that persists above feelings. *Give thanks to God in advance, and *Trusting God even if he doesn’t answer my prayer.
“Father, I want to be a person of faith.” Help me to believe it when I don’t see it. Help me to obey even when I don’t understand it. And God, when I feel like giving up, help me to persist even when I don’t feel like it. Help me to announce it, to speak it, in order to experience it. Lord, I want to practice faith and give when I don’t have it. And I want to practice faith in thanking you before I receive it. Most of all I want to trust you if I don’t get it. When things don’t happen the way I want, I want to learn to trust you even in the tough times. In your precious name I pray, Amen.
