Make a Scene

Tim Savage

2 Soon the house where he was staying was so packed with visitors that there was no more room, even outside the door. While he was preaching God’s word to them, 3 four men arrived carrying a paralyzed man on a mat. 4 They couldn’t bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, so they dug a hole through the roof above his head. Then they lowered the man on his mat, right down in front of Jesus. 5 Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “My child, your sins are forgiven.” Mark 2
I keep seeing this picture of dirt dropping from the ceiling on to the group that Jesus is teaching. Dirt and dust causing first a distraction, then a commotion, then finally, the people look up to see a man being lowered down from the roof in order to have Jesus heal him. Now that’s faith! This guy’s friends climbed up on to the roof and dug a hole in the roof. I want my friends to have that kind of faith and gumption, in fact, I want to be one of those friends and have that faith. When the way was blocked, these guys made their own path. When it wasn’t possible, they made it possible. They were willing to destroy someone’s property, to create a scene, to owe the home owner money for repairs – they were willing to go to the extreme to get their friend in front of the Master Healer and Savior because of their faith. Just a little of that in our daily lives would make a huge difference in our homes, offices and classes. How much would my life change for the better, if I were willing to climb to the roof more often?
I want to damage some property, dig a hole, get in to trouble, cause a commotion – for God. Isn’t it time we stretched ourselves, broke out of our boxes, went out on limb and climbed out of our comfort zones to go to work for our Lord and Savior?
Dear Heavenly Father, Create in me a reckless spirit for Your kingdom. May I wreak some havoc in the spiritual realm. Please give me the strength and courage to be bold in my faith, always attracting others to You by example. In Jesus name, Amen
