The Coming Of The Holy Spirit

Richard Waialeale

Joel 2:28 (NIV) 28 'And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.
Joel prophecies (afterward) about the events that will later take place on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:17-18). This is significant because up until the time of Pentecost, I can count with my fingers how many times the Holy Spirit was mentioned (as far as I know). When Joel says “afterward,” meaning the time of the Pentecost, the Holy Spirit has since made his presence available to all who believe. Since then, the Holy Spirit has been poured out.
What Joel is saying to me and everyone else who believes, is the Holy Spirit is available for us to exercise prophetic gifts. This scripture connects to the events of Acts that shows me how everyone today in the church can receive the Holy Spirit and operate in the spiritual gifts that God has for us. I must ensure that everyone in the church receives what God promises.
Lord my prayer is that You will give me the strength to serve you in your church doing what’s right for You and Your people. I thank you for working through me, serving through me and allowing Your love to shine through me as we follow You in Jesus Name. Amen.
