All Else is Worthless

Tim Savage

13No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. Philippians 3

Paul gives a powerful lesson here in this passage in Philippians. He reminds me that no matter how hard I work, no matter what I sacrifice, Jesus’ gift of salvation through His crucifixion and resurrection is the only thing of value. Christ is the only way to heaven. There is nothing I can do; no amount of good works that will get me or anyone else there, it is only in my faith and belief of Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God.

My faith should produce good fruit, but the key is my faith, that is the catalyst for change; good deeds are the by-product. So today, and everyday, I must focus on my faith, because through it, all things are possible. I can weather any storm of life, no matter what comes my way because of my faith in Jesus. But I’ll not just survive, no, God wants us to thrive. It pleases Him to bless His children.

I must put Christ at the top of my to-do list daily. I must put as much energy in to following Him and listening for His voice, guidance and direction as I put in to completing the rest of my to-do list because good works are worthless without faith.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Forgive me when I’ve put the task above You. You are the only thing of value; You are the only thing that matters. I put You above all else. I love You, Lord.

In Jesus name,
