Listen to Truth

Rod Shimabukuro

Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” John 18:37
The contrast of kings is evident in John 18 through Pilate’s and Jesus’ encounter. Pilate seemed more concerned about the issue of Jesus calling Himself a King, rather than the accusations of “His claims to be God.”

Pilate examples people who are more interested in their authority, well being, position, than that of God’s work of truth in their lives. The truth of God is Jesus and is known through His voice. Jesus is Truth and those who know Him, hear His voice.
So many well meaning Christians live by feelings, circumstances - even more interested in personal gains than what they can gain by living with and in the Truth. How do I know? Besides counseling so many of them, I have been one of them.
The temptation I battle is to question Jesus voice because “my agenda and desire for personal gain” can creep up quickly in my heart.

I will live differently, knowing, being reminded that I KNOW THE TRUTH... JESUS! I will hear and listen to His voice of Truth - because He has made me a man of the Truth.
Thank you Jesus - God of Truth! Thank you for forgiving me of my childish ways, thinking of myself more highly than I ought, giving way to desire for personal gain at times. You are so good to forgive me and restore me to be the man of Truth you have called me to be!
