Welling Up WithinJohn Tilton
John 4:13-14 Jesus answered,“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of waterwelling up to eternal life.”
Jeus matter of fact shared with the woman at the well that the living water he offered would quell her thirst eternally and that there would be a welling up of eternal life within.
We often read parables and metaphors when reading God's word that sometimes seemvery illustrative but perhaps intangible. I am the type of person that likes tangibility of understanding and connection within my soul. I've heard this scripture often. However, this time I really felt prompted and inspired to make the connection that the tangibility of the living water for me is the welling up within me of God's living water through the teaching, guidance, grace, love, providence and testimony through His Word that is the living Word of God. It takes the scripture reading from inspiring words to tangible providence in my lift, that when I read God's Word, it will manifest itself as the living water and word through me when I see the results of God's providence. It is then that I can feel even closer to God in my relationship with Him as the touch of His Spirit reaches down into my heart, the welling up.
Dear Lord, thank you for you Word and how it is the living Word that waters my soul, saved my life, covers me in grace, leads me forth with hope and perseverance; all a testament of your love and providence.
