"The LORD said to Joshua, "Get up! Why have you fallen on your face?" (Joshua 7:10)

Here’s the context:
[Israel sinned; didn’t listen to God, they have stolen and lied, taking the Lord’s property.  The Lord would destroy them unless they made things right and returned what belonged to God!  The Lord said to Joshua -  Get up! Consecrate the people and say, ‘Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow; “There are devoted things in your midst, O Israel. You cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the devoted things from among you.”

In other words - Joshua, make things right - instead of acting all spiritual and feeling horrible about the situation.  Of course Joshua felt horrible about the sin of stealing and deceit.  I see God calling a leader in Joshua to - “man up and lead to do what is right, not what is religious.

Could repentance be religious?  I think so, when we know to do right unto God - but in so called humility, we fall on our face in shame and repentance.

There have been times when my kids have ”broken a rule“ and they feel really bad...even repentant, but I’m angry cause they KNOW BETTER!!!!  I’m not sure if this was the case with Joshua.  Maybe God was saying, ”C’mon Josh - you know better - so GET UP, Man Up and make things right!!“

Today the Lord would say to Rod - ”Man up in the areas where you know I have called you to be obedient, but you keep “humbling yourself” as if you are trying to prove your surrender.“  Oh God!!!  Forgive me for my lack of Initiative and leadership!

I repent for my false humility.  When I act as if my religious repentance is touching Your heart O God - when it is really making You angry and fed up.  But thanks for not giving up on me - never forsaking Your love and mercy for me!  I’m so lame at times - too many times.  Help me to MAN UP in those areas You are speaking to me.
