Live Holy at Home

Rod Shimabukuro

Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God,which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the fleshand was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, Romans 1:1-4

The magnificent magnitude of the Godhead; the gospel of God...concerning HIs Son...descended...according to the flesh...declared to be the Son of God...according to the Spirt of holiness, by the resurrection - JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD!

It’s as if Paul established the theme and foundation of his letter with who God is - not just what He’s done, in sending His only begotten Son. But declaring Jesus, the Son of God - as Jesus Christ our Lord! This is the gospel of God - the act of God’s kindness through His character.

I admire Paul’s distinction, naming himself as Jesus’ servant - not to be mistaken or confused with his calling as an apostle. A prestigious role, but he identifies with being set apart to God as a servant of Jesus!

There is so much depth and meat to the meaning and person of God, his nature/character and role in these first 4 verses. To think - to know - to experience....I have been changed by the power of the Spirit of holiness, through the resurrection life of Jesus. He is Christ my Lord.

Today, I want to live differently by reading slowly, patiently through Romans over the next few days. I wan tot live differently by the power of the Spirit’s grace, to be gracious to my family. There’s so much going on in “my life, my ministry, my world...” But it’s not about ME! I’m being convicted by His Spirit of holiness - to live holy at home! To know, live for, experience this God Paul writes about in 4 verses - is to Live Holy At Home!

Dear Godhead of the Gospel! I want so much to please You, through my inner life and outer lifestyle! Please help me to live holy at home. I trust You, Your grace and power to fill me - as Your servant and son. Fill me with Your Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection of my Lord Jesus! Thank you for setting me apart - for Your glory and home and in life!
