The downfall of great believers, great churches

Rod Shimabukuro

Revelation 2:20 “But I have this complaint against you. You are permitting that woman—that Jezebel who calls herself a prophet—to lead my servants astray. She teaches them to commit sexual sin and to eat food offered to idols.
24 “But I also have a message for the rest of you in Thyatira who have not followed this false teaching (‘deeper truths,’ as they call them—depths of Satan, actually). I will ask nothing more of you 25 except that you hold tightly to what you have until I come.
What kind of credibility would a false prophet or prophetess need to have in order to be allowed to teach in the church? Credible experience, miracles taking place, numbers of people enthralled with the charisma and personality of this leader?

Some believers in Thyatira were lured into perverted instruction and some held fast to truth. The dissension, accusations, frustration, long elders meetings - must have been grueling. The battle for truth, integrity, purity was on.

But this church was known for their love, faith, service, perseverance and their efforts to constantly improve in all of these things. God patiently endured the sins of idolatry and immorality, allowing time for repentance.
I am very grateful to the Holy Spirit, revealing God’s Truth to me. Also for the heart He has given and blessed me with to know Him, through His Word!

I desire to excel in: love, faith, service, constantly improving to stay culturally relevant. This is consistent with Biblical principle and our New Hope core values. While I love upholding our New Hopes Core values, I am warned that all of us as believers, churches, spiritual leaders are subject to deception, false teaching and perversion.

Contradictions exist in God’s church. We are not without evil desires, selfish ambition or being vulnerable to deceptive teaching. While God is long-suffering and faithful to His church, despite our shortcomings and failures, He is asking me to stay close, devoted to truth, being prayerful and watchful - as a shepherd leader - over my family and the family of God. I also sense a stronger, deeper desire to know His Truth, so I am able to detect the subtle hint of misleading instruction.

I need to remember as a spiritual leader that God is the ultimate judge of sin and those who sin. He is the Great Shepherd of his sheep. Jesus is the Head of His church. v. 23 says - Then all the churches will know that I am the one who searches out the thoughts and intentions of every person. And I will give to each of you whatever you deserve.
I am in love with You Great God - and I love Your Word. Please help me to be a wise, lover of Your Word and heart. I need You to help me to keep my heart pure, clean, truthful, faithful and in love with You.
Thank you for my family in Kansas City, who are so loving, supportive and faithful to serve each other. Please touch, convict, fill the hearts of all the family we are praying for to know and live for You!
