External Pressures, Eternal Rewards

Rod Shimabukuro

2 Timothy 2:11 This is a trustworthy saying: If we die with him, we will also live with him. 12 If we endure hardship, we will reign with him. If we deny him, he will deny us. 13 If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.
In the heat of battle, Timothy is challenged to be a noble soldier of Christ. The external pressures of dealing with false teachers and opposition against the faith is worth the eternal rewards. I love how Paul accentuates our eternal relationship, as we face temporal hardships.

I can’t help but think of my Japan ‘ohana who serve God so passionately and wholeheartedly while facing their challenges. With under 2 percent of Japan’s (over 125 million) being Christians, the pressing obstacles against their faith is being met with endurance and faithfulness.
Having spent over 12 hours with the saints at New Hope Yokohama today, I’m in massive awe of Jesus; His presence of love through the warriors there. I am super humbled by the dedication of their faith, endurance and faithfulness - not just serving to do ministry - but serving because of their love for Jesus.

I’m inspired and motivated to remain faithful till the death for Jesus. I desire to meet the challenges I face with undeniable faith in Christ, through Christ. Specifically, may I serve with the heart of worship and gratefulness - in and through the hardships.
Dear Papa God! Thank you for loving me, even when I let You down through my disobedience. You have been and are so faithful to me, even when I’m not. But thank you for strengthening me, not abandoning me, for not denying me. May I love You and live for You - till the death!
